We love this new home style.
Here at Halm Brzezinski Homes we have pretty strong opinions about houses. We love a great historic renovation – like the yellow farmhouse on Spring Hill Road in McLean that went under contract in about 19 seconds. (I guess we weren’t the only ones who liked it!)

Wonderful historic farmhouse on Spring Hill Road in McLean (listed by Washington Fine Properties for $1.695 Million with contract pending)
There has been some really bad new construction in Northern Virginia over the past few decades. There’s something you don’t hear too often from a couple of realtors! Fortunately, we are now seeing a lot of terrific new construction.
One trend in new construction that we love is a French Country trend. We like these houses because they don’t scream I AM HUGE. They look like warm and inviting (albeit luxury) cottages.

French Cottage style on Turkey Run (Listed by Sotheby’s for $4.295 Million, under contract)
The ones we have seen also feature high quality and unique finishes throughout. They don’t look generic. They are proportionate in scale and fit in with the landscape. You get the idea.
This home on Turkey Run in McLean has so much curb appeal – the interesting roofline, the stone and stucco exterior. It is charming, and at 8200 SF, deceptively large. It too went under contract relatively quickly – in about a month.
On tour this past week, we saw a pitch-perfect cottage style home on Wemberly Way. This is in a great neighborhood in McLean, inside the beltway, filled with charming homes, in the Langley High School district, with walkable and bikeable neighborhood streets. Here is a link to the tour of that home. As of this writing, it is not under contract.
