Paint Colors We Love for Selling and Living
Ginny:
I love to paint. There is nothing like a fresh coat of paint to change up a room. I repainted our front door at least 5 times before sadly resigning myself to a glossy black after realizing that double doors don’t do well in color.
When it comes to interior paint, while I love the Farrow and Ball colors, my favorite paint is Benjamin Moore. I like neutral walls in colors that are versatile enough to work with antiques or contemporary furniture.
Ginny’s Go To Colors
My favorite Benjamin Moore “greiges” are Revere Pewter (our living room is this),
Collingwood (our family room is this), Balboa Mist (can have some lavender undertones, but I still used in my dining room) and Edgecomb gray.
For beiges, I like Carrington Beige. (Our front hall is this)
For off white, I like Navajo white. It is a warm neutral.
For trim I use either White Dove or Decorator’s White in semi gloss. I prefer to use the same trim color through the entire house.
Jennifer:
I am getting ready to repaint our kitchen, family room and living room and like Ginny I love the way it can instantly transform a space. My current favorites are trending toward the grey family. I love Farrow and Ball Pavilion Gray, Benjamin Moore Sterling, Gray Owl, and Pelican Gray.
Jennifer’s Go To Colors
For beiges Sheep’s Wool
For a Master Bedroom I prefer a restful color like Windy Sky.
What are your favorite colors? Do you prefer neutral or dramatic color?
Staging with these colors
These colors also photograph well. The lovely home in the photograph above is painted in Benjamin Moore Carrington Beige.
When we prepare homes for the market, we evaluate whether the home needs to be freshened up. Sometimes simply decluttering and putting a fresh coat of a neutral color makes a huge difference in marketing a home.
